BY-LAWS
The Official Stuff:
Purpose: To unite varsity athletics of UNM as a whole for social, community and networking reasons.
Social: The Student Lettermen’s organization plans and organizes social events that provide opportunities for athletes from different sports to be together and get to know one another.
Community: Student Lettermen learn how to plan, organize, and host an array of community projects. Outreach to the surrounding communities via charity work and community volunteerism is an important component of the organization.
Networking: The Alumni Lettermen’s Association is the founder and supporter of the Student Lettermen’s Association and is responsible for the financial stability of the student group. The Student Lettermen club assists in myriad Alumni Lettermen events and activities year round.
Officers: Officers are elected in the spring of each year. They include President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer. Board members consist of team representatives from UNM team sports and athletic training. The officers and the board are the association's decision-making group. There is also an advisor from the UNM Alumni Association.
Duties of the Officers:
President: Organizes and runs the Student Lettermen meetings; attends the UNM Alumni Lettermen board meetings and relays Student Lettermen business to the Athletic department and UNM Student Activities.; ascertains that no rules of the school, NCAA or student government are broken by the Student Lettermen’s organization.
Vice-President: Assists the President in all duties; fills in for the President in the President's absence.
Treasurer: Handles all financial matters, including arranging for donations and applying for UNM Student Activities assistance grants.
Secretary: Takes minutes at all Student Lettermen meetings.
Advisor: Serves as the ultimate source of all information, finances, leadership, organizational help, and sanity!
Meetings:
Student Lettermen meetings are held every other week during the
academic year.
