New Board Members 2007-2010

Alice Loy, '02 MBA, is from Santa Fe. The founder and executive director of Social Venture Partners of New Mexico, Alice teaches social entrepreneurship at the Anderson Schools, where in 2001 she founded the UNM Chapter of Women Excelling in Business.

James Jimenez, '86 BA, '01 MAPA, a native New Mexican, began his career in government in 1986. He was appointed Chief of Staff for Governor Bill Richardson in April 2006. Prior to his appointment, James was the secretary of the Department of Finance and Administration and former finance director and city administrator in Rio Rancho.

Karen Bayless, '75 BS, is the co-owner of Bayless Drilling Company in Farmington, New Mexico. She also sits on the board of directors of the New Mexico Museum of Natural History.

Brian Colón, '01 JD, is a practicing attorney with Robles, Rael & Anaya P.C. Brian was recently elected chairman of the Democratic Party of New Mexico. He is chairman of the board of Popejoy Hall and a member of the Alumni Association's Lobos for Legislation committee.

Jane Shuler Gray, '98 BSNU, is a licensed New Mexico attorney of 29 years. She was the first woman to be appointed judge in the Fifth Judicial District, comprised of Chaves, Eddy, and Lea counties. Judge Gray is a 2006 recipient of the Alumni Association's Zia Award.

Waneta Tuttle, '67 BS, '70 MS, '73 Ph.D., '85 MBA, has played a vital role in the growth of the health care business in Albuquerque. Currently she is the founder of a new company, Puente Partners, LLC, that will counsel New Mexico biotech companies in securing initial venture funding so they can commercialize new technologies. She received the Alumni Association's Zia Award in 2005.

Lenton Malry, Jr., '87 BA, '95 MPA, was recently appointed executive director of Workforce Education for the New Mexico Higher Education Department. Len works to expand higher education opportunities and further develop the workforce preparation infrastructure to support sustained, long-term economic vitality for the state.

Region D (California):

John Bakas, '69 BA, '76 MA, is dean of St. Sophia Cathedral (Greek Orthodox) in Los Angeles, California. He is also a biblical scholar, LMU professor, and community leader.

Region F (Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska and Alaska):

Lila Boyden, '72 BA, lives in Spokane, Washington. She has been in the medical office management business for over 30 years. She is currently a part-time associate with Talbot's. She represents Region F.
