Hanging of the Greens
A (rainy) campus was lit once again by thousands of luminarias placed by student organization groups as UNM welcomes in the holiday season. Carols were sung around campus and the traditional wreath was hung on the door of University House.
Winter Commencement
Winter graduation took place the evening of Friday, December 14. Nearly 1540 students graduated this semester, becoming the newest group of alumni of the University of New Mexico. For the first time, President Schmidly presided over commencement exercises at the Pit. As well, convocation ceremonies were held for individual schools, colleges, and/or departments to honor their graduates.
All December graduates were invited to attend a reception in their honor hosted by President Schmidly and the Alumni Association on the south concourse of the Pit following the graduation ceremony.
Young Alumni also celebrated their newest members the night before on December 13 at a Wine and Cheese Social at the Alumni Center-Hodgin Hall.
