Congrats, Silver and Gold!
New grads and golden grads celebrate commencement together.
Approximately 950 new graduates joined 43 not-so-new grads from the class of 1958 at commencement ceremonies in the Pit the morning of May 17.
An enthusiastic crowd applauded when President Schmidly introduced the golden grads who waved back with equal enthusiasm.
Alumni Association President Lillian Montoya-Rael then congratulated the new grads on their new status as UNM alumni, urging them to talk about their unique experience at UNM and to use their education to enrich their lives and the lives of others.
The day before, the golden grads had toured the campus, enjoyed a reception at Hodgin Hall, and met UNM President David Schmidly and the honorary degree recipients at a dinner in Zimmerman Library.
