Dear UNM Alumni,
As many of you are likely aware, the University is undergoing a comprehensive review of our strategic framework: those things that connect us to our mission, vision and values. We have had an overwhelming positive response to this initiative from departments all across campus, including your Alumni Association. We are working tirelessly to connect all university stakeholders to our mission – our students, faculty, staff, and our greatest legacy: our alumni.
This is an important initiative. One that will provide us the focus we need as we continue to work toward higher aspirations as a community. The benefits are tenfold and it is our desire to engage the alumni community more directly, since the benefits will be felt by all.
I invite each of you to review the strategic framework documents. They can be viewed by going to http://www.unm.edu/president/. Please feel free to provide any feedback on them in addition to the ways that you, as an important member of our community, can connect to it.
I believe that our alumni are an important resource for the institution and play a critical role in our success. To that end, I encourage you to continue to be the voice of UNM. Like I said in my inaugural address, let those who love UNM the most speak loudest about her. Word of mouth is a powerful source of information. The more advocates we have, the better off we will collectively be.
As always, if there are ever any ideas, thoughts, concerns you have, please feel free to contact me. Working together, we'll be able to reach our goals, laying the foundation for a new generation of successful Lobos!
With best regards,
David J. Schmidly
President
