Alumni Award Recipients
Distinguished Legislator Award, 2009
In 2009, the UNM Alumni Association’s Lobos for Legislation committee recognized Representative Larry Larrañaga – as their 2009 Higher Education Distinguished Legislator. Rep. Larrañaga worked tirelessly during the past legislative session to restore critical budget funding to UNM.
Larrañaga served his 8th term and represents District 27 in Bernalillo county. He is a member of the House Appropriations and Finance Committee, Agriculture and Water Resources, and Rules and Order of Business. He is a retired Rancher and holds a BS degree in Engineering and a Master’s in Civil Engineering.
We would be remiss if we did not point out that Rep. Larrañaga has been one of UNM’s champions in securing capital funding for the construction of the new Engineering complex. We are proud to say that Rep. Larrañaga has an open door to the University of New Mexico and is always ready to support UNM’s mission and goals.
