March 19, 2007 UNM News Minute:
UNM had a successful 2007 legislative session. Some highlights of priority legislation already signed by the Governor include: a 5 percent compensation increase for both faculty and staff; funding to cover the .75 percent increase in the employer contribution to retirement; zero tuition credit a healthy increase in the building renewal and replacement formula from 40 percent to 70 percent, plus approximately $13.8 million for infrastructure; and $28.6 million in capital outlay projects. The faculty endowment bill, which was another UNM general priority, is now waiting for action by the governor. This would provide matching funds of $2 million to UNM main campus and $1.5 million to the Health Sciences Center.
