Legislative Awards

Lobos for Legislation is pleased to honor our state’s leaders with two types of awards, the University of New Mexico Alumni Association Higher Education Distinguished Legislator Award and the Legislative Service Award.

The UNM Alumni Association Higher Education Distinguished Legislator Award recognizes a New Mexico state legislator who has made an extraordinary and exemplary contribution to higher education at the University of New Mexico during the immediate past legislative session. The award includes a $500 UNM scholarship for the honoree to award to a student of his or her district.

The UNM Alumni Association Legislative Service Award is given to recognize those state legislators who through their 20 years of dedicated public service have made a difference to the lives of all New Mexicans. The award includes a brick inscribed with the honoree’s name to be placed in the Hodgin Hall walkway—and a duplicate brick for the honoree’s desk!
