Lobo Club Thank-A-Thon Lobo Club Thank-A-Thon

A message from the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee: Between February 13th and February 16th, a UNM student-athlete will be calling you on behalf of Lobo Athletics as part of our 2011-2012 Lobo Club Thank-A-Thon. We want to personally say thank you for your support of the Lobos! With your financial contribution over the past year, we have been able to accomplish so much including:

  • Last semester's average GPA for UNM Student-Athletes was 3.13, which is not only the highest in 2 years, but higher than the general student population.
  • The Mountain West honored 40 UNM student-athletes with the Fall 2011 Academic All-Mountain West Team honor. The Lobos were tied for the third-most honorees among the nine MW members. UNM has now finished in the top three for most Academic All-MW honorees for 12 consecutive semesters.
  • Currently, the University of New Mexico ranks 24th in the fall update of the Learfield Sports Director's Cup standings, ranking as the second-highest non-BCS institution. The Director’s Cup calculates the overall success of every Division I athletic department.

Again, thank you for your continued support of UNM Athletics and the Lobo Club. Our success on and off the field of play would not be possible without you on our team. With cherry and silver pride, The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee

Betty Sabo ... an artful life Betty Sabo ... an artful life

The documentary Betty Sabo — an artful life premieres this Saturday, Feb. 11 from 5-6 pm on KASA FOX 2. The film captures Betty’s extraordinary career as an artist, sculptor and art advocate. Betty devoted much of her artistic career to creating realistic scenes in oils of New Mexico landscapes, and you can find her sculptures all around the state (and beyond). Betty's life is very much intertwined with UNM: she served on the UNM Alumni Association Board and the UNM Foundation Board of Directors. She also won the Alumni Association's James F. Zimmerman Award in 1998. For more on Betty, visit www.bettysabo.com.
