What is Trailblazers?

Trailblazers is an organization in which current students serve as ambassadors for the UNM Alumni Association and the University of New Mexico.

Primarily, Trailblazers volunteer at functions that are sponsored by the University or the Alumni Association.

However, Trailblazers also may assist with community service projects not sponsored by the Alumni Association or UNM.

Trailblazers may also choose to participate in special volunteer projects or fundraising activities decided by the organization.

By joining Trailblazers, members have an opportunity to further develop their leadership skills by interacting with other student leaders and community members and as well as engage in workshops and conferences.

Events Where Trailblazers Demonstrate their Leadership Talents Alumni Association: • Alumni Board Meetings • Luncheons • Alumni Homecoming Activities • Legislative Reception in Santa Fe • Promoting the Alumni Career Mentor Program President’s office: • Basketball games • Dinners • Receptions • Student Luncheons • Hanging of the Greens Student Recruitment: • Speaking at Star Scholar Events

The University of New Mexico Alumni Association serves its members from the oldest building on campus, Hodgin Hall.

The Association and its professional staff in the Alumni Relations Office coordinates activities designed to inform and involve UNM’s 143,000 alumni in every state and 89 foreign countries.

The Association participates in policy and decision making, student support programs, government relations, student recruitment, career placement and planning, administrator search committees, faculty support, and continuing education programs.

The Association works to ensure college memories are kept alive alongside important plans for the future.

Success of the Alumni Association depends on the interest and commitment of all UNM alumni.

The wide variety of activities, programs, committees and chapters offer something for everyone.

There are no dues.
