Time Capsule

100 years from now . . .
What do you want to tell
students . . . faculty . . .
friends of UNM?

This is your chance to talk to the future!

Lobo citizens of 2111 will open the Hodgin Hall time capsule that we bury on September 21, 2011. We will choose one letter each from the alumni, faculty, staff, and students to include in the 2111 time capsule. It could be yours! Submit your letter electronically below or to (address) by September 1, 2011. Letters must be kept to 250 words.

In place of a full-length letter, feel free to share a few sentences highlighting your memories on and around the UNM campus. Give the future UNM community a chance to remember the sights and sounds of today, and the memories that shouldn't be forgotten. The form below also allows the chance for you to upload pictures that capture life on campus.

A committee of alumni, faculty, staff, and students will make the final choice of which four letters will be included.

What to include...
  • What do you want them to know about UNM today?
  • What do you hope will have happened?
  • What do you hope will have remained constant?
Are You Curious?

In 1908, a time capsule was buried by the UNM graduating class. Mirage noted this in 1909, stating:

"The class of 1908 had the honor of laying the cornerstone of the new Rodey Hall, and left many valuable records in it."

What could be inside? On September 21, 2011 we will find out what students and faculty of the time stashed away for us to view 100 years later.
