Wayne Harley
2010 Distinguished Service Award

It's hard to know where Wayne Harley's love of the outdoors ends and his love of the UNM ski team begins. One thing is for sure, Wayne is passionate about both.

Professionally, Wayne and his father, Joe Harley, climbed the family ladder — both literally and figuratively – as they built the Albuquerque home improvement mainstay Baldridge Lumber Company from the ground up. Over the years, Wayne and Baldridge Lumber have financially supported the UNM ski team.

Wayne was a founding member (1968-1970) of the UNM varsity ski team that became Central Intercollegiate Alpine League team champions seven years in a row.

In 1985 Wayne became a Corporate Ski Cup Board director, a title which he still proudly holds. Without the support of the Corporate Ski Cup, the team would be limited in its capabilities. Wayne has held board positions with the Alumni Lettermen's Association and contributed time to the Lobo Club.

One of Wayne's favorite times with the ski team was in 2004, when he traveled to Nevada and witnessed firsthand the UNM ski team winning the NCAA National Championship.

Wayne has been humble in his generosity, but tonight, the spotlight is on him as he receives the Distinguished Service Award.
