Greater Los Angeles Chapter Celebrates Cinco de Mayo
The UNM Alumni Los Angeles Chapter celebrates Cinco de Mayo in Downtown Los Angeles with a ride on the recently re-opened Angels Flight Funicular and lunch at the historic Grand Central Market.
Join us for a fun afternoon visit to Downtown Los Angeles to learn more and even ride the historic Los Angeles Funicular, the same one featured in "La La Land!" The funicular opened in 1901 to carry wealthy Bunker Hill residents to downtown jobs. The iconic orange cars transported more than 100 million people by the 1950s, but closed in 1969, when the homes on Bunker Hill were razed for skyscrapers. Self-sponsored lunch across the street at the historic Los Angeles Grand Central Market. Be sure to wear your LOBO colors so we can find each other!
11 a.m.: Meet at Angels Flight Railway ($1/one way)
Noon: Lunch at Grand Central Market
Please RSVP to Mike Curry, Greater Los Angeles Chapter President, by email or by phone at 310-689-6848 to let him know you're planning to attend.
