The Austin Chapter and area alums are invited to participate in celebrating UNM's 130th Birthday with a special Lobo Day event, The Science of Beer.
Beer making is an ancient craft with recipes impacted by all aspects of chemistry. Join us as we explore and taste how air, water, malt, hops, yeast, and the weather interact to create an amazing diversity of flavors. Presented by the UNM Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology with Dr. Mark Stone, Associate Professor of Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering.
The general theme will focus on how the four ingredients of beer (water, malt, hops, yeast) interact to create an amazing diversity of flavors. The strategy will be to have four mini-lectures followed by tastings of the four theme beers.
This is one you won't want to miss! Cost of the event is $20/person and includes 4 tastings. Purchase of meals is not included.
