Hanging of The Greens
Hanging of the Greens is UNM's oldest student tradition and is one of the largest luminaria displays in the area consisting of 14,000 luminarias. The event is planned and run by Mortar Board, UNM's premier senior honor society.
Caroling will begin at 5:45 p.m. in front of the Bookstore. The caroling route will first make its way to University House where UNM students will present the official wreath to the President and her husband, then proceed to Hodgin Hall for the annual reception and a holiday lighting of The U.
The community is also invited to bring an unwrapped children’s book to place under the tree at Hodgin Hall. Books will be donated to UNM Children’s Hospital. Additionally, the community is encouraged to return to campus Saturday morning and gather luminarias for their own use.
