Staying connected to our Pack has never been more important, but also comes with unique challenges as we practice social distancing to keep ourselves and our loved ones safe during this time of uncertainty. Through our Lobo Love campaign, we’re presenting opportunities for each us to continue to unite both our alumni community and the communities in which we live.
Explore ways to connect, support and recover on this page, and be sure to tag #LoboLove on social media when sharing your experiences.
Making connections and supporting the Lobo community is at the heart of the work of the UNM Alumni Association.
Operation Clean Paws is just one of the ways the Alumni Association and its committee volunteers are showing their #LoboLove for New Mexicans during this health crisis.
100 gallons of hand sanitizer was purchased from local alum Chris Leurig, who owns Safe House Distilling Co.
UNM Facilities Management helped pick-up and distribute the hand sanitizer to many areas around campus. From the essential employees’ childcare center to student housing, Operation Clean Paws is helping to make main campus as safe as possible.
The Alumni Association shared #LoboLove all over New Mexico, delivering the much-needed disinfectant to UNM branch campuses in Valencia, Los Alamos and Gallup.
With the extreme outbreak of COVID-19 the Gallup area, the local hospital, Rehoboth McKinley Christian Health Clinic, was also included in the hand sanitizer distribution as well as the Southwest Indian Foundation—a nonprofit providing essential services to the most vulnerable Native Americans.

The UNM Lobo Athletics family cares deeply about our community and Lobos everywhere. That’s why they teamed up with UNM Health to ask all Lobo fans to take the “Lobos Lead” pledge and to follow the recommendations of the NM Department of Health (DOH), support our fellow Lobos working in our healthcare clinics and encourage others to do the same.
We can’t wait to see you at Lobo Athletics events as soon as it is allowed, and to make that happen we need to work together. Fans who take the pledge can choose between:
1. A free ticket to the opening Saturday of the Coach Danny Gonzales era on August 29th when the Lobos face Idaho State at Dreamstyle Stadium (first 1,000 claimed)
OR
2. Being entered to win one of a number of great prizes including:
- A Coach Gonzales autographed helmet
- Lunch with a UNM coach
- A trip to an away game with the team
- And more!
You can complete the form here to take the pledge. Until we can gather again as a Lobo family, please be safe and enjoy time with your loved ones. Go Lobos!
