A starry night is one of nature's most magical wonders. Yet, in our artificially lit world, most of us no longer experience true darkness. In this talk based on his book, “The End of Night: Searching for Natural Darkness in an Age of Artificial Light,” Paul Bogard seeks to restore our awareness of the spectacularly primal, wildly dark night sky.
Dana joins our team today as our new vice president of alumni relations and executive director of the Alumni Association. We encourage our Albuquerque-area alums, and any alumni planning trips to New Mexico, to join us at upcoming events for the opportunity to meet Dana. President Robert Frank selected Dana Allen as UNM’s new vice president of alumni relations and executive director of the Alumni Association in October 2015. Most recently, she worked as the assistant vice president for alumni relations and executive director of the Alumni Association at Old Dominion in Norfolk, Virginia. More

Each year at The University of New Mexico, a new cohort of graduates celebrates the culmination of a long, sometimes trying but rewarding experience as they graduate after completing their degree requirements. The Class of 2017 has much to celebrate as they take the stage to honor their academic achievements. For the sixth year in a row, UNM will report a record-high four-year graduation rate. More

On Saturday, May 13, our Lobo alumni pack added more than 3,900 UNM grads. In the weeks prior to graduation, the UNM Alumni Association hosted its second year of offering free photos to new grads in their regalia at The U in front of Hodgin Hall Alumni Center, photographing 211 graduates. On Friday, May 12, the Class of 1967 was inducted into the Heritage Club, which is for alumni who graduated 50 or more years ago from UNM. Class President Arthur Beach was in attendance, along with 75th anniversary grad, Laura Grissom Bradshaw.

On Friday, June 10, during the Summer Celebration, Past-President James B. Lewis awarded Sen. Jacob Candelaria the committee’s Higher Education Distinguished Service Award. The purpose of this award is to recognize a New Mexico state legislator who has made an extraordinary and exemplary contribution to higher education at the University of New Mexico during the immediate, past legislative session. We are gearing up for Living La Vida Lobo! held Monday, Sept. 25, through Saturday, Sept. 30! Homecoming will keep with tradition for a week packed with events and reunions, including the All University Breakfast, but have a few new – and soon to be favorites – on the calendar as well. Homecoming Week 2017 will end with the Lobo football team taking on Air Force Academy at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 1, at Dreamstyle Stadium. More
UNM associate athletic director Ed Manzanares has announced that alumna Paula Congleton has been named the Lobos' head softball coach. Congleton comes to New Mexico with over 20 years of head coaching experience with her most recent stop at Santa Barbara City College in Santa Barbara, California. More
