Welcome UNM Alumni Connect, The University of New Mexico Alumni Association's Online Community

Access to UNM Alumni Connect is easy! Membership is exclusive to alumni only. It's free to you! All you need to do is establish a User ID and password and login. If you are already registered, log in with your username and password. If you have not yet registered and would like to do so, please register here to begin the process.

Being a part of this community allows Lobo alums to:

Email Communication and Privacy Settings:

We'd like to keep you informed of the latest news and events. You must login to the Online Community to update your email preferences to indicate the messages that you want to receive from The University of New Mexico.

Alumni Email: Make your connection today!

We are excited to offer free permanent email services exclusively for all alumni. We've partnered with Google to offer email as part of Google Apps for Education Services. By signing-up for an @unmalumni.com email address, you will have a dependable, accessible and permanent email that enables you to showcase your Lobo pride!

With a @unmalumni.com email account, you can:

  • Use your alumni email address as a fully-functional web-based email account and access your email from anywhere in the world using Gmail.
  • Set your alumni email address to forward to another email account of your preference.
  • Send emails using your alumni address as the "from" address when managing emails from a personal account.

  1. Visit the Preferred and Permanent Email Preferences tab on your Personal Profile page.
  2. Enter the gmail username you want to use and save your settings.
  3. Watch for a "Welcome" email notifying you of your new webmail account. This email will include your @unmalumni.com username and temporary password.
  4. Login at https://mail.google.com. Your login will be your complete email address "you"@unmalumni.com" and your password.
  5. If you do not receive the automatic email contact us at (505) 277-5808 or at alumni@unm.edu.

First time registration? Signing up for UNM Alumni Connect is easy!

  1. Go to www.unmalumni.com. Enter your first and last name.
  2. Click on your name from the list provided.
  3. Verify your identity by entering your birth date and graduation year.
  4. Create your username and password. Read and agree to the policy of use and your registration is complete!
  5. To sign-up for your permanent email account, visit the Preferred and Permanent Email Preferences tab on your Personal Profile page.

Login is required

The UNM Alumni Association launched on a new online community platform in December 2015.

If you had set up a username and password before then, you will need to follow the first-time login instructions to gain access to the current alumni site.

Permanent Email

Q:

  1. After you sign-up for your @unmalumni.com email account, watch for a "Welcome" email notifying you of your new webmail account. This email will include your @unmalumni.com username and temporary password.
  2. Login at https://mail.google.com.
  3. Your login will be your complete email address "you"@unmalumni.com and your password.
  4. Use the temporary password that was sent to you in your notification email. Your welcome email will be sent to your preferred email address that we have on file. If your preferred email address is an @unmalumni.com email address, the welcome email will also be sent to your forwarding address that we have on file.

A: Yes! If you would like to use @unmalumni.com only for email forwarding, after logging in at https://mail.google.com, click the cog wheel button in the top right-hand corner and then "Settings". After the settings page appears, select the "Forwarding and POP/IMAP" tab and follow the instructions.

Passwords and Logins

Q:

A: As a graduate of UNM, you automatically receive access to the online alumni directory. You will need to follow the first-time registration process in order to access UNM Alumni Connect.

  1. Use your first and last name to look up your account.
  2. Select your account.
  3. Verify your identity by entering your birth date and class year. If you cannot find your name on the list, please email us at alumni@unm.edu or call 505-277-5808 for assistance.
  4. Once you've created your username and password, you'll be able to submit Class Notes, edit your profile information and search the Alumni Directory.

What is Google Apps?

A bridge between our organization and Google products. On one side, we have communication and collaboration needs for our alumni. On the other side, there are successful, innovative, online personal Google products. Google Apps allows us to embrace the strengths of both sides.

Where can I get more information on Google?

Visit the Google Help Center at http://learn.googleapps.com/ for frequently asked questions updated daily by product experts, tutorial videos of key features, user interface screenshots, active discussion groups, and more.

What is Alumni Email?

Alumni Email is an email for life product offered to alumni and students of The University of New Mexico. Alumni Email is powered by Google and offers each user a customizable @unmalumni.com email address showcasing their alumni status at The University of New Mexico.

How is Google involved?

Google and its web-based email program Gmail are the engines that power Alumni Email. Each account provides users with an unlimited amount of storage, fast Google searches, and powerful spam protection. In addition, users also have access to Google Calendars to store all of their important dates and events on.

Can I access my Alumni Email in an external mail client?

Yes! Configuring your Alumni Email account in an external mail client (Microsoft Outlook, Lotus Notes, etc.) is easy and can be achieved using POP or IMAP access. After logging in to Alumni Email, click the cog wheel button in the top right-hand corner and then "Mail settings." After the settings page appears, select the "Forwarding and POP/IMAP" tab. Enable the option you'd like to use (IMAP is recommended) and follow the configuration instructions linked in that section. Remember to use your full email address as your username. Can I access my Alumni Email on my cell phone?

Yes! Alumni Email powered by Google can be setup on most data-enabled cell phones, like the iPhone, Blackberry, Android and phones running Windows Mobile. Cell phone access can be done via your mobile browser by visiting https://mail.google.com, by enabling IMAP on your account and setting up Alumni Email as an email account on your phone or the Gmail IOS/Android app from the app store.
