The UNM Alumni Austin Chapter invites all alumni in our Pack to celebrate Lobo Day with a presentation by Dr. Emily Lena Jones, associate professor of Anthropology at the University of New Mexico. Jones will be presenting: “What makes a dog? The human-canine connection in the Ancestral Pueblo world”.

Jones is an archaeologist who studies past human-environment interactions through the lens of animal remains from archaeological sites, a specialty known as zooarchaeology. Her current research projects focus on understanding how past human relationships with particular focus on domestic (such as dogs, horses, and livestock), semi-domestic (such as honeybees and many types of captive birds), and non-domestic (such as deer and jackrabbits) animals have shaped the human-environment relationship across the globe.
